Twin buggies are made especially for those parents or nannies who intend to walk two children at that same time. So parents with twins, or those who are close in age, will get added benefit from twin buggies, starting with the fact that both children can be strolled by a single adult.
These buggies come in to fundamental types: the tandem and the side by side. The tandem features two seats, with one in front of the other, while the side by side, of course, has seats next to one another. The appropriateness of one over the other will depend on how you intend to use the stroller, but generally speaking, the tandems are more narrow and so more suitable for moving in and out of tight spaces, but they are also a little more difficult to control. Meanwhile the side by sides are easier to control, but can be quite awkward in tight spaces. However, they do also offer both children good visibility.
While these are the main two types of strollers, there are other varieties as well, including multipurpose pushchairs, which go from stroller to pram very easily and quickly. Of course, the nice thing about this function is that it means you can use the same stroller from the time the baby is born until it is through its toddler stage and ready to walk on its own all the time. So, there are substantial savings to consider with this alternative.
However, these devices can also be quite heavy, which is a consideration for those who must move the stroller in and out of the car, or up and down stairs.
There are also strollers that are built for rugged terrain, such as that found out in the country. These strollers are not recommended for newborns, however, some to come specially equipped for those under three months old. The main features of this device are the larger wheels and sturdier construction, which is designed to withstand the bumps of the rough terrain. Like with the multipurpose stroller, this more rugged design can also be on the heavy side.
For newborns, there is also the baby carriage, traditionally known as a tram. Some of these are even designed with traditional, antique like features. The downsides of these devices include their inflexibility; most are not designed to fold up. Also, most of them are not safe for children once they become old enough to climb up the sides from inside the carriage.
For those who move back and forth between car and stroller, another good option is the transportation system, which combines the car seat with the stroller. Obviously, the advantages here are that it makes moving babies back and forth simpler and easier.
When beginning to consider what kind of stroller you want to purchase, first take stock of how your life is likely to unfold on a day-to-day basis, and ask yourself some simple questions that will help guide you toward the right stroller for your situation.
